Pizza Buffet

Today I would like to speak of the journey to my first buffet pizza also known as a pizza buffet. This was a very interesting place that actually had every type of pizza that you can imagine. The name of the Italian buffet pizza place is called Friends and Family Pizza Buffet. I believe that it is a pizza franchise if anyone is interested. The staff was very friendly and it appears that they must be a family run business. They have two pizza locations in Pennsylvania, one in Philadelphia, PA and the other in Harrisburg, PA. They started out about 2 years ago.

Ok the place was pretty big and can fit about a 100 people or so. They have nice Italian columns down the wall. But back to the pizza! Ok the pizza buffet was about $8 per person. This includes a drink and an unlimited amount of pizza, pasta, and salad. They pasta was very interesting (actually a little dry. They had beans there and hot dogs too. There were about 7 pizza pies on the buffet line. There weren’t much variety. They had pepperoni pizza (it was all gone when I got up there), buffalo chicken pizza, some kind of onion pizza, regular plain pizza, and this melty cheese (I think there were several kinds of chesses in there) pizza, oh and white garlic pizza. This was the pizza that was there the whole time.

The slices were very small but I think that this was a good idea. If you make the pizza slices too big then many people would not have enough room to sample all the other pizzas that were there at the buffet pizza place. So aside from the actual slices of pizza being cut small, the pizza tray itself was pretty small. I don’t have a problem with the pizza slices being small as mentioned above but when the pizza trays are small that is a problem. I am here at this buffet to eat and eat now. With small pizza trays the end result is no pizza when you go up in line. There was a lot of heavy eaters there too which resulted in high turnover of pizza slices. If they are not producing pizzas as fast enough as people are eating them then there is a lot of angry customers.

All and all, I give a good review to this pizza buffet but I stamp caution here. That is, I think everyone should try this pizza dinner at least once. But I think that people need to be aware of what to expect. I will analyze this in a minute. First, the buffet hours are unbeatable: 7 days a week and around 10 -15 hours a day. Second, for eight dollars a person, that is a pretty good price if you want to eat pizza all day long. Third, they may not have all the food out on the pizza display at once but they staff was so friendly. All you have to do is ask the pizza waitress and she will make you any pizza in five minutes or less. That’s pretty sweet because the price is still the same.

Now it would only be fair to my readers to talk about the disadvantages of this pizza buffet so that everyone makes a fair decision. The disadvantages were that the pizza trays were small. Second, there weren’t many pizza options readily available at the moment you walked up to the buffet. Third, the quality of the pizza was average. Especially the fact that I really wanted pepperoni pizza and there was none up there except one slice that had a fraction of pepperoni that was barely noticeably (at first you would have thought that it was plain pizza). Finally, FF Pizza buffet is in 2 locations in Pennsylvania only. So if you live in another state get ready for a road trip.

With that said if you have never tried a Italian pizza buffet before and or you are a very big eater then a buffet pizza place is right for you.

Oh, while I am rambling, one other thing was that they have a variety of cold pizzas, particularly the desert pizzas. I had tried the chocolate smores pizza. That was pretty good. It was ready in five minutes from the time that I ordered the pie. They put the smores pizza up on the pizza buffet so that everyone else can sample it. Everyone seemed to have gobbled that up pretty quickly. It was pizza with chocolate and marshmallows spread all over the dough and heated up. They had other cold pizzas there too – even peanut butter pizza. This is where the real value of this place would come in. You can be real creative and ask them for something that they never heard of and they would be obligated to at least try to make it for you.

Well these are my thoughts on pizza buffets and FF pizza buffet. I welcome your comments and thoughts. For now I will retire to digest the 30 or so pizzas that I devoured. This concludes our pizza buffet discussion!

Buffet Pizza

I will be visiting this buffet pizza place within the next few days. I never was at a pizza buffet before. The whole concept sounds delightful. To be able to walk around and choose from many different kinds of pizza at once while all of the pizza is still fresh sounds very interesting. I don't believe that there are many pizza buffets out there. But this one in particular has pasta, salads, and drinks too. I will tell you all about it after I check it out. It looks like a franchise. A buffet pizza place sounds like a good franchise idea. I don't know how well they are doing in this economy. Probably pretty well though because it is under $8. But then again that is per person. You can buy a whole pizza at home for $8. I guess if you eat a lot you will get your money back when you go to these buffet pizza places. I'll let you know soon. Off to buffet pizza land...

Pizza Vending Machine

First day back on the blogs I had to write about the new pizza vending machine that is supposed to take over the world. The inventor is from Northern Italy. It's called "Let's Pizza." That 's right a vending pizza machine called "Let's Pizza." The pizza machine is fully automated and makes all the pizza inside the machine. It starts out making the dough and then adds a little tomato sauce and probably spices it up a little. If anyone knows anymore about this please let us know because it sounds very interesting. I have to say though that the chefs in Italy are probably really pissed off because they take making pizza very seriously. I don't think that this will effect their pizza business though because a vending machine cannot replace the skill of these pizza craftsmen (and women). Wow, a pizza vending machine coming soon to your nearest 7-11.
